In Andy’s spare time he enjoys restoring and renovating old vehicles and displaying them at local and national rallies.  Andy has restored a Bedford TK Tipper and a Volvo F6 SWB Tipper both of which is in the livery of Andy’s Grandfather and latterly Father and Uncles business, A H Vater & Sons Ltd Builders Merchants.

Wealden Wander

Andy held the first Wealden Wander in April 2008.  The event involves restored vintage vehicles travelling from the market carpark at Heathfield through local villages in East Sussex.  Andy continues to enjoy organising this event each year.

Vintage Vehicle Rallies

Andy also enjoys taking his restored vehicles to a number of shows throughout the year including the Laughton Spring Fayre, Tinkers Park, Gaydon Classic Truck Show, Edenbridge Steam Fayre, Ardingly Classic Vehicle Show, Ringmer Steam Fayre, Lingfield Country Show, Sedlescombe Step Back In Time, Festival of Transport, Dorset Steam Faryre, Laughton Country Show and Scammell Road Run at Chatham Dockyards.

Heathfield Carnival

Andy is proud to have shown his vehicles at the Heathfield Carnival since 2008.  He even won the Best Vehicle Float in 2009.
